Géza Anda captivated audiences in Europe and prominent cities across the United States and Canada, collaborating with all the leading and renowned conductors of his time. During the illustrious era of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Fritz Reiner, he was prominently featured as a soloist for four seasons. His performances alongside George Szell, conducting the Cleveland Orchestra, received widespread acclaim from the press, with the New York Times praising his impeccable timing, exquisite balance, and exceptional artistry. In 1951, he received his inaugural invitation to the prestigious Salzburg Festival, where he would become a regular participant in subsequent editions. Collaborating frequently with his compatriot Ferenc Fricsay, Anda joined him on concert tours in Salzburg and Paris (1952), Stockholm (1957), and Vienna (1961). Furthermore, he shared the stage with Herbert von Karajan at the renowned Lucerne and Edinburgh Festivals, as well as in London alongside the Berlin Philharmonic. Our double album presents four piano concerto recordings from radio broadcasts, which were an integral part of Anda’s esteemed repertoire.
