In this, the first volume of two on the Gamô clan from Ômi province, we will trace the family’s origin, and follow the clan and its members through the turbulent centuries leading up to 1557. 600 years of enticing history will be told. Along with the Gamô there will also be a lot of information on many other families from Ômi, like the Asai, Sasaki, Rokkaku and Kyôgoku - even the warrior monks from Mount Hiei join in. Also, stories involving families from neighboring provinces like the Asakura, Saitô and the Ashikaga. The book contains several beautiful color plates, countless color photos, maps, and illustrations; all with the intent of bringing a vivid and an easy to understand description of a feudal clan from the land of the rising sun.

Terje Solum
Terje Solum has for more than 20 years done research on the Sengoku Jidai and has during this time managed to acquire a huge library on the Middle Ages of Japan. He also has a large collection of photographs. Terje has studied Japanese at a language institute in Okazaki Japan, and in Norway at the University of Bergen (UiB). He has a BA degree in history from USN (University of South-Eastern Norway). He liv and works in Skien, Norway. This book will be the author’s seventh in the Saga of the Samurai series.
